Lycoris moved with a briskness that meant she was in no mood to face the world. She was craving something equivalent to war but not quite since you can't really start a war when you had no one on your side. A wicked smile spread across her face as she thought about it. Blood would soak the earth and her fur and she would look down on the bodies that would litter the ground only to laugh haughtily. That would be a swell day she thought silently to herself. Lye's eyes searched about her the tall grass moving with strong bursts that resembled ocean waves. The summer heat seemed to choke her though she ignored it pushing through the tall grass. She growled to herself hating the mugginess.
"This damnable heat is going to be a problem..."
She muttered the words mostly to hear her own voice. As if to pull her attention away from the heat a small dark building rose from the ocean of green. Confusion filled the female she had never realized such a building actually made it's home here in the grass. It resembled a small boat and trying it's best to stay afloat. The grin that had slid from her face turned into pursed lips as she tried to figure out whether to explore the place or leave it to rot where it was. Having nothing better to do Lye stalked forward towards the eerie building. When she stood before the place she studied it. The paint that had once covered the thing was now chipped away and gone leaving nothing but grayed rotting wood. Slowly Lye moved forward stepping wearily onto the steps they creaked under her weight. When she was past the steps she stood on the porch wondering what to do about the door. Deciding to just force the door open Lye took a step back then shot forward shoulder leading. She hit the door hard and it swung open with the force of the blow.
Lycoris stumbled into the small house looking about curiously. Her mind whirled on where to start. There was two doorways one to her right and one to her left and before her a set of stairs. Deciding she'd take her chances on the stairs Lycoris made quick work of them. Each step though had been creaky and she wondered whether or not they would give to her weight. When she was at the top she looked back down the door swung idly on hits hinges as the wind whistled in. Turning back she moved to the left where a bedroom door stood wide open. She moved cautiously forward. The smell of rot hit her nose hard when she entered the room. On the bed held in the embrace of each others arms were two rotting corpses. Lycoris thought idly what could have led to their deaths but the stench of the slowly rotting bodies had her backing out of the room quickly. Taking one more glance back she studied the browned corpses the smaller one obviously female and the larger male. A bit of gold glistened on the females finger though Lycoris knew not the meaning of it.
Across the hall from the embracing corpses was another room though this ones door was shut. Lycoris could see that something had been dragged into the room for old dried blood was plastered into the wood. Stepping forward Lycoris was tempted to ram the door open like she had to get into the house. She decided against moving back to the stairs she had already seen two rotting corpses she didn't need to see another. Moving down the stairs they creaked yet again with her weight. Lye was no longer interested in exploring the house further and she went straight for the open door. She stopped on the porch letting her body sink to the rotted wood. The scene above had been saddening only because it seemed the two lovers had died knowing that death was at their doorstep. The urge to lift her voice up to let them not be forgotten filled her. Lycoris threw back her head her voice strong and sharp and she sang a tune. A moaning sound echoed from the house weaving with her voice. The hair on the back of neck stood on end but, Lye did not stop her song. She cared not of who would hear her only that this felt somewhat right.

Too much is made of what's in me Not enough about how I strive Keep an eye on your world it's cheating Keep an eye keep an eye on me
It was a safe bet to say that Hex did not enjoy the summer. No it wasn't that the long dreary days got to him. Or even the insects. It wasn't that he hated the summer, he didn't hate anything really. It was too strong of a word, it was just that summer was not his most favored of all the solstices. That much was a stone cold fact. It had to be the heat, the blistering sun raining hell fire down against his black and brown pelt. Or perhaps it was the humidity mixed with more humidity. The sticky coding of liquid that smeared itself across him like a clear paint. The sheer thought of it was enough to send shivers up his spine, to have his skin crawl beneath his fur. Or at least it would, if it wasn't so damn hot! Regrettably the medium sized male had been exploring and found his way here. How unfortunate truly, there wasn't a sign of shade to be found.
His sturdy limbs bounded forward in a faint bounce motion as his ears flicked forward, alert for his eyes were useless here. The thick green and brown intertwined grass had him all confused. He couldn't see over the tall foliage and thus he was blinded. Without one of his senses it was safe to say he was perhaps a bit more than a little edgy. Alas, he wasn't one to simply give up and turn back. He had to explore the land more, even to keep him entertained. It went without saying, that this stretch of land had to be thee WORST place he had been yet. Well no, perhaps that was unfair. It was simply the fact that he was just so painstakingly bored here. There wasn't wolves poking their noses where they shouldn't, growling and exposing their weak points toward him.
He had grown so accustomed to them that life without them felt even more unsettling than life with them. The oddity that was his life, being more relaxed and comfortable with wolves waiting to snap his jugular in two than not. He padded idly without any sense of direction, just knew he was somewhere heading north across a large open plot of land. The grass swaying in the faint haze, the hissing of locus occasionally rising causing him to fold his ears back in annoyance. Perhaps it was the heat, or maybe the soft heat wave of a breeze that would occasionally blow into his face, or maybe it was the locus hissing and buzzing in his ears that was causing his mood to waver. Making him rather cranky and irritated. It was all in all just a shitty day as far as better days went. He had had them, and now this one was just a low day and he would accept it.
He paused his brisk walk momentarily. His ear instinctively rising as he heard a howl clawing out across the horizon. His brow perked up as he wondered what in the hell, or who in the hell had howled, and why. It wasn't like they were claiming the land no, this land was not possible to be claimed. Yet there it was, a low resounding rupture of vocal chords bellowing out across the land. For what he pondered. He felt his shoulders hoist up and fall down in a faint shrug before he found himself wandering, not directly but still growing ever so closer to where the source of the howl was. It wasn't long before the long grass began to spread and he could see ahead of him. There was a square shape of sorts that was blotting out the sun ahead. Not too far, but far enough to where he couldn't comprehend or even figure out what it was. His curiosity getting the better of him he made a direct line toward the only source of shade for miles it seemed.
He stopped abruptly as his nose twitched scenting another around. He didn't hastily flare his nostrils but merely snorted revoking the scent of another from his scent trail as he stepped into the shade. His toes tingling as the soil was a comfortable warmth slightly damp and ever so inviting. Without looking ahead of him to notice the female standing on the porch, he plopped himself against the twenty degree cooler earth letting out a heavy sigh as he sat there. Feeling all the more exhausted his shoulders hunched over as his ears hooded his expression while his soft pink tongue poked from his muzzle panting softly from the heat. He couldn't help himself at this point, it was just too hot for him not to drool. Blasted summer, he couldn't wait until the cool weather began to sweep in. His muscles loosened as he lowered his body against the dirt stretching his paws out and resting his head against his forelegs yawning gingerly to himself ignoring all outside noise and tunneling his vision down into the dirt.
