For the last three months, Nahani had been seeing the Betess of his father's pack by the cover of moonlight. Most would consider the meetings romantic and the best love story ever but the only thoughts going through Nahani's head was lust. He had an insatiable lust for the Betess Taboo. He had courted her for only a few days till she showed the same signs of liking him that he did. Though there really wasn't a reason to keep their meetings secret, it was common between them to not show any liking to each other while around the other pack members. They constantly bickered like siblings and kept their distance from each other but it only made their meetings at night even more heated.
Tonight would be no different. He could feel himself shaking with the need to have her next to him and he had to dig his claws into the soft soil beneath his claws to keep himself from going to find her. He whined softly and sat down, wrapping his orange and black tail against his black hind legs. The moonlight shown brightly down in the small valley, lighting it with a ghostly silver glow. The reflection of the moon shown brightly in the small creek that ran along the curve of the valley.
He moved his eyes from the creek to the opposite hill where he expected to see Taboo at any moment. He supposed the only reason he had to keeping these meetings "secret" was his father. He wasn't sure how he would react to courting the Betess of his pack considering of the multiple outcomes that could occur including him becoming Beta or a fight between them that could put a rift between him and her and she could shirk from her duties. Their continued bickering during the daylight around the other pack covered their tracks and Nahani almost smiled with smugness.
As the moon rose to the top of the sky, Nahani threw back his head and let out a soft howl of courting that flowed down into the valley like a wave of water and seemed to make the atmosphere lighter and more open. He was hoping tonight would be much the same as all the other nights.
