Emotional attachment is really not a threat when I'm simply not concerned.
It had been weeks since the wolf had sufficiently rested himself and to come along this river was quite the treat. He wasn't on the run from an enemy but he just hadn't felt the need to stop his journey. His journey didn't have a destination and he wasn't longing for a pack or friendship. He was quite content to continue on alone and need no one. Sure, being a loner was difficult and he often went without a good meal but it wasn't something he could not handle. The more frequent his trials became the less he cared and the effect they had on him lessened as well. Why the brute had decided to stop here was unclear but since he had he would relish in a cool walk in the water.
Fahad trotted out into the stream and felt the chilly water reach his chest, sending a shocking sensation throughout his entire body. His senses were now on high alert. The brute wasn't wary of an enemy attack because he felt quite certain he could flee if the need be. This was why he never disliked his small stature. Sure, he may not be as strong as some wolves but at least he was nimble and quick. He waded around lazily and occasionally lapped at the water. When he no longer felt the rush the cool touch had brought him he stepped out and shook himself off. It was quite chilly and his coat was not as thick as others. Being a warm weathered wolf, a thick pelt was not something he needed. Fahad dried off and continued to shiver softly. Although it was cold he didn't feel bothered. This was just his personality. He never seemed to become uptight or upset about anything. He was always the cavalier trickster.
This is not to be mistaken with callous. He may be uncaring but he was never outright cruel. He thought himself to be quite kind but it didn't surprise him when people thought he was cold and heartless. He could still be a gentleman and not cling tightly to relationships and what not, couldn't he? What was so important about the bonds everyone seemed so careful not to sever. The bonds are constantly becoming strained to the point of breaking and yet people cling to them as if nothing else mattered. This was something that never made sense to him. He was never tied down to anyone, whether it be friendship or love. The brute easily walked out of everything he had ever eased his way into. He did tend to be quite the heart breaker without even realizing it.
Fahad wandered away from the stream and lay between the roots of an enormous tree. He didn't want to sleep, he just wanted to watch the surroundings. The orange eyes were ready for any movement that might come.
