[bg=000000][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Slender paws caressed the moist forest floor, ivory toes sinking to mesh with the undergrowth and soil. Every step sent a cold shiver dine her spine, but she continued on. The scent of rain and moss was thick in the air and moisture clung to dark, silken tresses like a magnet, though the lie was less than sublime; it had not rained here, it rarely did, but the mist and aura of the lake kept the surroundings nicely cool and damp.
The sun was high in the sky, shining beautifully upon the land, streaming in through the trees to caress the essa’s multicolored pelt. A blissful, toothy grin spread happily across her lips as a light pink tongue dangled from her mouth shamelessly. It was too nice of a day to not be happy; after all, it was only a matter of time before autumn was gone and the beautiful weather would turn cold and unforgiving.
Loveless increased her speed to a lope as the trees started to thin out. It was almost time… she had to do it at lease one more time before winter’s snow would come and ruin all her fun… only a little farther now. Mixed eyes were alight with excitement and her heart threatened to burst through her chest, muscles ached to be used… Come on, just a little longer… And then it was there, before her eyes.
Ivory pads stopped moving, muscles bunched in her legs and shoulders. Before the she-wolf, there was a narrow clearing, dotted with trees the stretched on until the trees stopped all together and the sun blazed so bright it was impossible to see what was on the other side. This was it, what she had been waiting for; this was the only place that she could run to the fullest without anything to stand in her way.
”Lets do this…” And just like that, she was off, darting through the trees and letting her body push itself to the breaking point. Her surroundings were nothing but a blur, the cool autumn air danced through her fur, and freedom consumed her heart. It was at times like this that Loveless could pretend she could fly. It was magical.
The vix was fast, she was sure of it. She had run for her life once, had been forced to flee from the man she had loved of else submit herself to death. Well, death could wait; there was still too much life had to offer. She told herself that as she ran through the night, Demetri--her angel of death--right on her heels. She could have been running for hours, for days, but it didn’t matter; Loveless had outrun the devil and there was nothing that was going to stop her now.
At the end of the trees it was like crossing through the gates of heaven. The light blinded her and suddenly the sun was full force upon her back, but the femme didn’t stop there, she didn’t slow down until her paws were engulfed in the chilly waters of the pack’s beautiful lake. Feeling the smooth pebbles shifting beneath her, Loveless closed her eyes, held her breath, and flung herself into the deeper part of the water.
Submerged in water was surreal, like nothing else in the world. Most wolves feared the water, terrified of their soul being trapped there forever if they were to drown, but Loveless thrived in it. If it meant living beneath the surface, watching the sun cast ripples of light down upon her, then she hope that her life would one day be taken by the river.
Breaking the surface, she swam back to the point in which she could touch and rolled onto her back in the shallow water, staring up at the clouds. Past and name be damned, Loveless was going to enjoy everything this life had to offer right until the very end. |

Zazzik had arisen late for his morning run. He usually rose with the sun and picked a random direction. Sometimes he’d reach the border and turn around, other’s he’d barrel right past it with a desire to run somewhere new. Today was one of the days when he’d turned around.
He ran through the morning, the autumn sun warming his back. The gentleness of the warmth was a welcome change from the searing heat of summer, which had made him tire faster, but it was also a sign that winter was just around the corner. Zazzik didn’t care though. He would run no matter what season it was.
When he reached the lake Zaz took a quick break, then decided it would be fun to get a little wet. The water splashed around his paws like explosions as he ran along the edge of the lake at full speed.
Looking ahead he saw movement. Splashing. Was someone in trouble? Zazzik’s ears flattened against his head at the thought; he had to help them if they were. And so he poured on the speed. When he got a little closer he could see that it was indeed a wolf, but they were clearly not in any trouble, so he slowed his pace to a trot. The wolf, a female, was lying on her back, her white paws pointed to the heavens. She had probably heard his splashing approach, so he allowed himself a hearty chuckle.
”Hello there lovely lady!” He came closer, but stopped a respectful distance away; as he usually did for females he’d just met. ”I hope you are lying there simply for pleasure and that you didn’t end up in that position some other way. I see myself in that same position often, usually after one of my many spills.” He tilted his head, feigning contemplation, ”Actually, it’s the only reason I end up like that.” His boisterous laughter once again pierced the air. When he stopped and things were quiet once again he looked back at the female. ”The name is Zazzik, but a lady like yourself can call me whatever you will.” He nodded in greeting and smiled kindly at the female. He hoped that he didn’t come off as imposing in any way and that she might laugh. He wouldn’t mind making another friend.
